Dr. Amjad Umer Furniturewala
Orbit Eye Hospital provides preventive and surgical treatment for a range of eye problems under the guidance of Dr. Amjed Umer Furniturewala. He is the Director at the hospital and has been a pioneer in establishing and developing such an impressive eye care facility. He has been instrumental in ensuring excellence in all departments at the hospital and actively participates in every aspect of the operation from conception to management.
Dr. Furniturewala supervises a diversified medical staff and assures the smooth running of the hospital. Despite the additional management responsibility, he has continued his practice as an Expert Eye Surgeon over the years. Throughout his medical career, Dr Furniturewala has performed more than 15,000 cataract surgeries. He also has vast experience in laser/lasik eye surgery, since he has carried out more than 4,000 LASIK procedures over the course of the years.
Dr. Susheel Nilkanth Deshmukh
MBBS, MS(Gold Medalist), FAEH(Glaucoma)Dr. Susheel Nilkanth Deshmukh is a Consultant Eye Surgeon at Orbit Eye hospital. He specializes in Glaucoma, Micro-incision cataract surgery (micro-phaco) and has proven expertise in Glaucoma drainage devices and Congenital Glaucomas.
Along with being a consultant, he is also Head of Glaucoma department at the Lotus Eye Hospital, Juhu. Dr Susheel has many years of experience in the field of Ophthalmology and holds an MBBS degree from Seth G.S.Medical College & KEM Hospital. He followed this up with his Masters (MS OPHTHALMOLOGY) from Kasturba Medical College, Mangalore. He is a Gold Medalist from Manipal University and the winner of the prestigious “Dr.Sohrab A E Hakim Prize” in Ophthalmology.
Dr. Susheel completed a fellowship in glaucoma (FAEH Glaucoma) from Aravind Eye Hospital, Coimbatore under the expert eye surgeon, Dr P Sathyan. Dr Susheel has over 2000 successful Glaucoma surgeries and about 8000 Cataract surgeries to his credit.
Dr. Yogesh Bhadange

Dr Yogesh successfully published the peer-reviewed articles in leading ophthalmic journals such as British Journal of Ophthalmology (BJO), American Journal of Ophthalmology (AJO) and Investigative Ophthalmology and Visual Science (IOVS).
Dr Akshay Gopinathan Nair
(MBBS, DNB, Ocular Oncology, Occuloplasty surgeon)Dr Akshay Gopinathan Nair is an Occuloplasty Consulting Surgeon at Orbit Eye hospital. He specializes in ocular surface and eyelid tumours, ocular trauma, ophthalmic imaging and lacrimal surgery. Dr Akshay works closely with trainee residents towards skill development for writing papers, critiquing scientific literature and assessing medical evidence, to inculcate the practice of evidence-based medicine. He is also a faculty member in the Department of Ophthalmology at Lokmanya Tilak Municipal Medical College, Mumbai, and also trains residents in area of Ophthalmology.
Dr Akshay has many years of experience in the field of Ophthalmology and holds an MBBS degree from Maharashtra University of Health Sciences. He completed his residency training in ophthalmology (Diplomate of the National Board) from Sankara Nethralaya in Chennai, India. He followed it up with two fellowship training programs in Ocular Oncology, Oculoplastic Surgery, and Facial Aesthetics at L V Prasad Eye Institute, Hyderabad and New York Eye & Ear Infirmary of Mount Sinai, USA. Dr Akshay successfully serves as a reviewer for over 20 indexed journals. He has 70 peer-reviewed publications in PubMed indexed journals and has 13 book chapters to his credit. He has delivered Over 100 presentations at various scientific meets and forums.
Dr Akshay was awarded the best paper in Neuro-Ophthalmology at the All India Ophthalmological Conference in 2011. In 2012, he was a Gold Medalist resident. His contribution to the hospital in the area of ophthalmic microsurgery is commendable.
Dr. Priyanka Vora Bapat
(MBBS, MS, Paediatric Ophthalmologist and Strabismologist)Dr Priyanka Vora Bapat serves as the Paediatric Ophthalmologist and Strabismologist at Orbit Eye Hospital. She specializes in simple and complex strabismus, Paediatric cataracts, paretic squints, amblyopia (Lazy Eye) management, double vision, nystagmus ( shaky eyes), vision therapy for convergence and accommodative disorders, low vision therapy, eye care of special needs children and genetic eye diseases.
Dr Priyanka has many years of experience in the field of squint surgeries and most advanced surgical techniques in Ophthalmology. She completed her M.S. Ophthalmology with Distinction and then perused her passion for Children’s Eye care at the prestigious Aravind Eye Hospital, Madurai, the largest eye hospital in Asia. She trained intensively under the pioneer of Paediatric Ophthalmology in India, Dr P. Vijayalakshmi and has many successful surgeries to her credit.
Dr. Aniruddha Mahindrakar

Center Manager - B.A in PsychologyMrs Jigna Shah contributes significantly in the area of Psychology in various units of Orbit Eye Hospital. She heads the team who are always on their feet to make our patients feel comforted and safe when they visit the hospital. She has been actively involved in the liaising between doctors and patients to make their surgical and clinical experiences more comfortable.
Mrs Jigna Shah holds a BA in Psychology from the National College, Mumbai. She has been working in the health care and medical and cosmetic industry for more than 12 years. She understands the Psyche of the patients and ensures that they received quality care with a human touch. She has successfully resolved issues with many patients who continue to seek her assistance.
